Day 1

On the first Sunday of filming, I had to pain the inside of my shed white, so that we could film. Luckily by time Hulya, Megan and Lewis Baker James arrived, the paint had dried. We had not received the puppet by this time, so we had to film all the scenes which did not include the puppet. The day was quite successful and we were able to film quite a lot. However it was like a trial filming day because we were able to learn about which lighting would and would not work for the shadows. We were also not as organised as we could have been in terms of getting all the equipment. The lighting was darker than we had originally expected, so we were forced to rummage around my house for torches, projectors and candles to light up the room.

The use of candles to light up the room was a trial and error attempt but worked well to create the dim feel of the room. We had to quickly rush to TESCO in Orpington as the stings were not enough. So we began the scenes which included the string. However after playing this back, we could see that the lighting was still too dim because the string was not as visible as we wanted them to be. The "strings scene" this ran quite smoothly and we were quickly able to move on. We spent a lot of time filming Lewis lighting the match because we wanted to make sure we had enough footage tom play around with when it came to editing. We also filmed about 10 minutes worth of Lewis just smoking because sometimes the smoke showed in the camera, and sometimes it was too faint to really be seen.
